We finally made it out to Lake Louise for the ice sculpture competitions. We’ve been saying we’d do it for years now! The weather was finally perfect – warm and sunny! The place was packed. We were lucky that we arrived early so got to see the sculptures before the real crowds arrived. We then headed down to the lake to try out a bit of skating. The kids had — well — an interesting time. K was nervous and not getting the idea of balance and W decided he was grumpy the minute he hit the ice. He waffled between whining and crying and checking out the boys with hockey sticks and puppies on the ice. Just not wanting to admit to us that this sport might actually be fun! We bought some overpriced hot chocolate that was well worth it for the kids and it gave them a second wind to stay longer. All in all it was a great day and we are so happy to have finally made it. Next year it will be on our list!
