We’ve been trying to get the kids out skating this year to get them practicing. To say it’s been a challenge is an understatement! We finally had a bit of a breakthrough this past weekend. K was finally able to skate a couple steps on her own! I have a friend to thank for her ingenious idea of holding a scarf around their waist. It sure saved our backs and it meant that she was able to stand up straight without leaning on something. By the end of the lap she was taking steps on her own and not realizing that Daddy had loosened the scarf and she wasn’t being held up by it. W is still taking more time. We discovered that he just needs some practice walking in the skates off the ice first – the poor little kid has no idea what to do with those things on his feet!
